Microdermabrasion Facials, all you need to know!

If you’re thinking about having microdermabrasion done but aren’t completely sure what it is and if it’s for you, look no further. We’ll break it down in this blog post so you can book your next treatment well informed on what to expect.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive treatment, involving a special applicator with an abrasive surface, which is used to gently exfoliate the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it and to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can also improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring, melasma, pigmentation and other skin-related concerns. By eliminating the top layer of skin, the body rapidly replaces the lost skin cells with new, healthy ones. Microdermabrasion stimulates the bloodstream, in order to  further develop cell creation, improving the skin’s elasticity and texture. If you have any of these concerns, microdermabrasion could be for you!

Most skin types can benefit from microdermabrasion, but you should always consult a trained and experienced professional about your skin and whether the treatment is suitable for you, as some severe acne can be irritated by the treatment.

The skin regenerates itself every thirty days, meaning you should get microdermabrasion treatments every 2-4 weeks depending on your skin care concerns.

What do I have to do for aftercare?

  1. No exfoliating for one week

  2. Use a gentle cleanser

  3. Avoid the sun for 48 hours

  4. Wear SPF daily

  5. Don’t pick the skin!
